The MSc in Product Design Engineering is collaboratively delivered between the Glasgow School of Art’s PDE department and James Watt School of Engineering at the University of Glasgow, with curriculum delivery being equally split between the two institutions.
There are increasing pressures, from both existing and emerging world marketplaces, for products that not only respond to the needs of function, user and society, but that can be brought to market ever more rapidly through state-of-the-art development and manufacturing processes. Industries that develop, manufacture and market today’s products need high-calibre graduates equipped to handle these processes with management skill and creative drive.
The PDE MSc programme benefits from a global community of students developing a diverse range of concepts. The projects on display in this showcase demonstrate that our graduating students embrace the PDE approach of applying technology to improve the quality of life – and these projects are the basis of a portfolio of Design Engineering skills that will result in further study and employability, with some of these projects being developed further and launched to market.
