ACCESSIBLE EXPERIENCE HOTEL

ACCESSIBLE EXPERIENCE HOTEL

This research project investigated architectural discrimination in hotel space. In today’s society, people with disabilities make up 15%
of the world’s population, including but not limited to blind, deaf and disabled people. Our architectural interiors should be considered
for minority groups and be as equally accessible as possible to all. As part of the interior design of the building, accessibility is crucial and
will determine the accessibility of the space for people with disabilities; however, I hope that more than this, the basic needs of the area
will be explored for different groups of people.
Data were collected from people with disabilities and their stakeholders. Result showed that people with disabilities continue to be
inconvenienced when using hotel spaces. Furthermore, experiments were conducted to experience the feelings of different disadvantaged
groups and to gain first-hand experience. The main keywords were summarized by recording the feelings of different experimenters.
The result showed that taking everyone into account at the beginning of the design process is necessary, and to make the interior space more
humane so that people with disabilities and people without disabilities can be in the same area on an equal status. At the same time,
people without disabilities will be able to experience the hotel in a way that allows them to understand the situation of people with
disabilities and be more tolerant and concerned about them. Theoretical and practical implications were discussed.
Keywords: architectural discrimination, people with disabilities, experience, equal status
