Caitlin Merrett King (she/her)

Caitlin Merrett King is a writer and programmer from Sheffield, living in Glasgow. Her writing has been published by MAP Magazine, Pilot Press, Fortified, and Sticky Fingers. Last year she self-published a poetry pamphlet, ‘twelve sonnets for attention’, and earlier this year her paper ‘Unsure Theory: Ambivalence as Methodology’ was published in the Arts Special Issue: ‘Autotheory in Contemporary Visual Arts Practice’ (MDPI). Later this year, her writing will be published in Deleuzine (London), As Far As I Remember (Berlin), and Nothing Personal (Glasgow). She runs the gallery and publishing project, Lunchtime.

In homage to Lynne Tillman’s ‘Madame Realism’, ALWAYS OPEN, ALWAYS CLOSED follows Ms Real, an art critic in her early 30s living in Glasgow. She traverses the city, visiting exhibitions with friends, eating vegan sausage rolls and drinking tiny Belgian lagers at exhibition openings, whilst getting lost in her Instagram feed, her imagination and her own cultural and theoretical touchstones, spinning around and falling over several times over the course of one very, very long disorientating day.
