PINK BUBBLE PLAN
This design is an interactive art installation based on urban fear research and includes several bubble installations, interactive screens and a cloud-based interactive system.
The perception of fear is widespread in different cities worldwide, especially around the railway station. According to transit studies, train travel is one of the most fear-inducing activities in public space since train commuters typically feel constrained within the system and limited in their capacity to react to a scary scenario. According to many references, the designer found that many factors in the physical environment will cause the perception of fear, including visibility and signs of neglect, social network and familiarity. The perception of fear represents a complex set of responses to the environment. As a result, the designer wants to improve people’s mental state in the cities, especially around a railway station, making Glasgow Central Station a design subject. This design will combine art with urban design to reduce people’s perception of fear around the railway station.
