The study examined how the contemporary environment directly affects the residential houses and indirectly influences the balcony in the area of social. Data were collected from many kinds of aspects including the web of science for articles, books, and case studies in the English language with qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis.

Results showed that with the gradual improvement of national economy, the connotation of economy and spiritual level is gradually deepened, and people’s needs are turned from basic life to spiritual. On the contrary, the growth of the population has led to changes in the housing, with higher floors and fewer balconies, which causes serious conflicts among people because there is a lack of spiritual interaction such as sunshine, air, and social interaction. In addition, the behavior of reducing balconies has affected the ability of people external social intercourse gradually, which causes indifference between neighbors and many psychological diseases. The balcony plays an important role that communicates externally in people’s daily life. Through a series of exploratory factor analyses, the construction of community needs to activate with the balcony. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed.
