Isaac Heard (He/Him)

Isaac Heard (b.1995, Croydon) lives and works in Glasgow. Heard is a visual artist primarily working with video and animation to create fictional narratives exploring identity and memory. Heard graduated with 1st class honours from his BA studies of Fine Art at Lancaster University (2019), having spent a year studying abroad at the University of Colorado, Boulder campus (2018). Heard is currently studying for his masters in Fine Art Practise at the Glasgow School of Art. For his 2022 Mlitt Degree Show, Heard screened Sharon, a work combining video and animation as the protagonist reflects on her memories and relationship to her mother. In 2022 Heard worked on an extended animation project Bone Flower composed of hand drawn chalk images that explore the relationship between mind and body. Heard has also taught at various higher education institutions such as Lancaster University.

Sharon
Sharon combines video and animation as the fictional character Sharon reflects on her memories of her mother, relationship to the enviroment and deepest desires. The piece follows Sharon across several conversations as each location brings out a different side of her character. As Sharon changes in age and location the viewer is asked to reflect on what is the core of her identity.
Bone Flower
Bone Flower is a hand drawn animation in which the man-made and natural are contrasted. The film considers the physical beating heart of the city and how science and mythology can fuse together into a hybrid world of knowldege and wisdom.
